About Early Essentials OT

Early Essentials OT

Angie Thro

Hello! I am an occupational therapist, and mother who loves working with kids of all ages and abilities.
I am passionate about advocating for families.

As a school-based pediatric OT, deeply invested in our community in St. Charles, Missouri, I have the privilege to be connected to parents and teachers who care for children with true compassion while bravely voicing their concerns and challenges. I’ve also received advanced training in school-based trauma-sensitive response to adverse childhood experiences.

Early Essentials OT was launched in 2009 to provide workshops for teachers, parents and childcare workers, sharing valuable insights on movement, learning, and self-regulation. I also provide private handwriting consultation and direct therapy services for pre-school and school-age children. From this foundation, Early Essentials OT has grown to offer in-home consultations for parents and families, sharing the strategies from an OT’s toolbox to help families achieve peace and consistency with homework, self-care activities, or any daily routine. Our parent coaching model brings this support system and resources directly to you and your children.

I can speak with the voice of a therapist…
I can empathize with the heart of a parent…
I can share wisdom gained through the eyes of a woman.

Angie says: “I love being an occupational therapist and making a difference in children’s lives. We OT’s believe that gaining mastery of functional activities helps us grow and be restored. We see all people through the lens of their occupations. Kids have 3 occupations: to learn; to play; to be a friend/family member. As an OT, I can look at the activity, consider the physical or mental health aspects, and peel back the components that are preventing real progress. We can then move forward together to design a program to help the child start making functional gains.”

I grew up in northern Wyoming, and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. I later earned my Master of Applied Science – Assessment in Cross Categorical Special Education from Missouri Western State University. In my free time, you might find me spending time with family, cooking, reading, cheering at a sporting event, trying to help plants grow, or taking my dogs for a walk.

“When I approach a child he inspires in me two sentiments: tenderness for what he is and respect for what he may become.” —Louis Pasteur
